Earth Hour @ Metro Hotel on Pitt - Sat 28 March 2015

Earth Hour @ Metro Hotel on Pitt - Sat 28 March 2015

Earth Hour launched in Sydney in 2007, with 2.2 million people and 2,100 businesses participating in the ‘lights off’ event. Just one year later, Earth Hour became a global phenomenon with over 35 countries participating, and an estimated 50-100 million people.

In 2014, Earth Hour was celebrated in over 162 countries and over 7000 cities and towns worldwide. The symbolic hour has grown into the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, with beyond the hour projects and initiatives happening throughout the year.

Earth Hour is a great home-grown success story: an Aussie campaign designed to draw attention to tackling global warming and get people talking about what we can do to help.

In Australia, Earth Hour is something that really brings communities together, with 1 in every 3 Aussies taking part.

At Metro Hotel on Pitt, we are starting a corporate responsibility program that will entail us committing ourselves to being a part of the wider community in a socially or environmentally responsible way.

We will be joining in Earth Hour by getting our main lobby area as dark as can be feasibly managed. We’re inviting you to once again join in the action as we throw our support behind Aussie food and farmers.

We grew up with healthy, homegrown food and we all want our children to have the same opportunity. But our food is already being affected by global warming. This includes everything from the bananas we enjoy on our breakfast cereal every morning and our avocado and Vegemite on toast, to our lunchtime ham, cheese, tomato and lettuce wrap, and spaghetti bolognese - our dinnertime favourite.

Latest TripAdvisor review about Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour - Dec 2014

Latest TripAdvisor review about Metro Apartments on Darling Harbour - Dec 2014

“Outstanding location at Darling Harbor”
4 of 5 starsReviewed 30 December 2014 by gwsdb
Had a few days at the Metro Apartments recently and we were very pleased with the location and quality of the units. We had 7th floor apartment with great views over Darling Harbor. Our stay included a Saturday night and we had an excellent view of the weekly fireworks display. Bedroom / bathroom is located in a loft area so these apartments would not be suitable for people who have difficulty with stairs. Rooms are well maintained, are very clean and well appointed. Darling Harbor and its many good restaurants is a 5-8 minute walk , Skycity Casino/ Lyric Theatre is approx. 15min walk over Pyrmont Bridge. Wynyard Station is approx. 5 minute walk and its not to far to walk to good shopping and Paddys markets. Nightly rate was realistic for Sydney due to our longer stay. Wifi was fast and free.
Room Tip: Higher rooms are better for views.

Latest Tripadvisor Reviews on Metro Hotel Sydney Central - Jan 2015

Latest Tripadvisor Reviews on Metro Hotel Sydney Central - Jan 2015

4 of 5 starsReviewed 3 days ago by AussieBunchNEW
Spent one night here when we went visited Sydney to see Dirty Dancing at the Lyric Theatre. Hotel has been renovated and the room was clean and tidy, bathroom clean bit only partially renovated, toilet was old, tiles regrouted but old. Hotel is in an elegant location, opposite the Capitol Theatre, waking distance to Central, Paddy's Markets, Chinatown and Darling Harbour. Would stay there again no problem, got a great deal on Agoda, book 3 rooms, each had a Queen and Single bed.

Loved our stay here!! Close enough to walk to so many attractions, like Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Hyde Park, Central Station is 100m walk away and bus stops dotted every couple of metres. Staff were fantastic, excellent and helpful. Room itself was beautiful and clean when we arrived. Only downside was the TV was a bit staticky with some channels but it didn't impact our viewing much. Would definitely stay here again 10/10 recommend!!

Latest Reviews from TripAdvisor.com on Metro Hotel Miranda - April 2014

The visit was for our brother's hospital stay at Kogarah. They upgraded our parents to a superior room and helped with bus schedules and offered any assistance they could. The room was clean and had everything you needed. We would recommend this Hotel to anyone & everyone.

We were very lucky to have our whole bridal party plus siblings plus parents stay at Metro Miranda. The staff were very kind, helpful and assisted with so many "special requests".

Rooms on standard floor clean and serviceable, rooms on superior floor nicely renovated. Only problem is the access keys not working 100% of the time after being placed near mobiles but apart from that - excellent value for money and everyone enjoyed their stay.

I have stayed here afew times, always pay extra for the superior suite, very modern bathroom, huge comfy bed. Super close to west fields and gym. Looks abit old, but superior suite I repeat is great :) will come back whenever I trip down to Miranda/gymea bay.

“Very Centrally Located” ~ Latest Metro Hotel Sydney Central Reviews

 Very Centrally Located

4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed in this hotel a few years ago. I checked into the hotel as I came in an early wee morning 9 hours flight. I could not opened my eyes for lack of sleep & the hotel reception was kind enough to let me check in earlier than usual. As soon as I saw the clean & comfortable bed, I fell into a deep sleep oblivious what was happening around me.It was a good location & China Town was just a stone throw away.Price was also reasonable.

Metro Hotel central is located near a majority of "backpacker hotels" and the surrounding area on Google Earth appears a tad on the "rough side". But do not be "put off" by the photos on Google. This is a safe area to be in at night. After reading other Tripadvisor reviews I decided upon the Metro Hotel Central and the choice was perfect for our trip. Value priced for Sydney, centrally located with super easy access to buses, trains, light-rail and the subway. Walking distance to many points of interest and right across the street from the Capitol Theater. The Hotel and our room was clean, comfortable with modern stylish decor and decently appointed rooms including a room safe, small refrigerator and a kettle. Although a microwave oven would have been a helpful addition.
I had little interaction with the staff during my two week stay, but when I did, they were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is available for an additional charge.
Thumbs-up: value, location
Thumbs-down: no microwave, charge for internet access
Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor

Guest Review - Metro Hotel Miranda

Hi Dale,

Just to follow up on that survey. I must admit we were very surprised and very pleased with the standard of accommodation offered at your establishment. Admittedly we were on the fourth floor but it was far superior to what we had anticipated having previously been long term residents of the Shire and aware of how long the property has existed as a hotel.

On several visits to the Shire over the past few years we have stayed at our usual chain hotel at Cronulla. Rest assured we will be both returning to your establishment and referring you to friends.

I must also tell you that the most outstanding asset your establishment has, is your staff. All your reception and housekeeping staff were always remarkably helpful, friendly and cheerful. They helped top off what was overall a very pleasant experience.

Thank you for your follow up correspondence and we most certainly will be returning to your property when next in the Sutherland Shire.

Regards,

Mark McGuire
